Good blog. I would like a winger, either with good scoring potential or even a 3rd liner with a complete game, and offensive dman with the top 2 picks.

Do you guys think now that Tampa has a potential number 1 goalie in Lindback, Harding to NJ?

I want to see us sign Harding. Moose is good, but Harding could be a guy that might be a starter in the right circumstance. He can get in around 30 games, maybe even more next season and then get a shot at being a starter after that. He has been solid while playing for the Wild in a back up role, so I why not. I think it is time for us to go for a younger option in net for the back-up role.

That's what I'm saying. Moose has been great but his future is uncertain too. With Harding he gets a year to be mentored by Marty and then compete for the starting job.

Personally I would prefer to give the back-up job to one of the younger guys, otherwise we are going to have a logjam of goalies in Albany. Wedgewood or Clermont could possibly go back to junior as overagers but thats up to their teams and I don't think that will happen

i really dont know if either kinkaid or frazee will be ready for backup duties next year (wedge certainly wont and i dont want to mess up any development with him)

Frazee seems like a bust, Kinklaid is decent but should just be in Albany for the next season at least.

thats what i was saying, but had to include frazee in his example as well he is the closest to being ready compared to our other goalie prospects and well he hasnt exactly shown he could get it done, but maybe by some miracle he would be better on the big team

either way i doubt we bring up a goalie prospect next season without an injury or due to a reason why our back up (whoever it may be) cant play

i say sign harding

Yeah we need size up front. I wouldn't even want him to take any d men either we have so many. Rather him pick forwards with size and if hes gonna pick a small guy wait until a late round to do so.

i saw someone on F&I say that they were out to dinner and saw JVB (or had dinner with him) and asked him about parise, and JVB said they had the framework in place and are working out the contract but will announce it either at the draft or just before FA opens up to get publicity (wouldnt provide any info on it)

not sure if there is any truth to it, as i havent heard any news about parise and the devils even starting to talk about contract negotiations

id rather pick up a NATURAL RW who is big, has skill and can score (doesnt every team ) compared to a dman

but IF we do take a dman hopefully koekkoek drops to 29 somehow or we trade up

Clermont played last year in the ECHL, where his numbers were suspect at best. Kinkaid/Frazee split duties in Albany and Clermont got starts on recall sparingly. Therefore, Clermont will either be in Albany or Kalamazoo and Wedgewood will return to Plymouth as there is no room for him.

As for back-up, I'd really like to see a younger guy with potential like Gustavsson or Harding back up Brodeur, but then again, Hedberg is a very solid goaltender and has shown that over the past two seasons. So, if we do sign Harding or someone of that ilk, it's a pretty risky move at least for next season. Marty is no longer capable of playing 70 games, and Hedberg has proven he can play very well for 35 or so games, whereas the other guys, there's room for concern.

Yeah there are some interesting prospects out there in the first two rounds. Hopefully we get a gem.

Wedgewood is probably going to turn pro. Highly doubt Clermont will be in Albany. Needs to win a starting job in the ECHL first. I'd think Frazee is gone, and Wedge gets a shot in Albany.

i have been looking at the forward prospects since we found out we will be picking 29th, and honestly the field really isnt that deep for forwards, there are the high ends of yak's, gal's and gregs but then there is a big drop off this year its almost taking a shot and hoping you pick the right guy and he breaks through

where we are picking its more based on potential and what you think they will do rather then what they have done thus far, such as your hoping a guy can build into his body, and somewhat surprise you, its more of a gamble at this point

I would love for them to take Subban or Koekkoek but I think they'll be gone. Malcolm is the only goalie I'd want them to take though and Slater has the potential to slip but not likely that far. The Devils need forward prospects anyways so I want Sissons. The guy just looks like he'll turn into a Dustin Brown type so I love the thought of a potential even close to that. Frk would be awesome too. He's nasty and has the skills to really be a great pick at 29. Guys like Hertl and Aberg are less likely to still be around at 29 but would also be awesome. I'd like the Devils to maybe take a chance on Ebert with their 2nd rounder though unless there are some obvious steals still not chosen.

There's also Al Montoya from the Islanders. He's solid and always played well against us. He would probably be a lot cheaper than Harding and gustavsson.

i think he is a RFA besides i cant see the isles not signing him as nabokov prob wont return after next season and we all know about dipietro and the only other goalie they have is niellson (sp)

No he's a UFA. Maybe but they also have Poulin in NYI. Wonder how much it would cost to get Ben Bishop from the Sens, I know they just got him with an extension. Did Clemmensen sign an extension? If not I wouldn't be shocked if Lou would go back to him.
